What’s In It For Me?

Make it real for your buyer. “Tell a person there’s a million stars in the sky and they’ll believe you. Tell them
there’s wet paint on the park bench and they’ll touch it to find out.” A buyer doesn’t have to be from the
“Show-Me” state (Missouri) to react with “Really? Prove it!” when a you tell your story for the first time.

But how do you prove your story? A convincing argument can be proof. Unfortunately not everyone is as
persuasive as television defense attorney Ben Matlock or as insightful as theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.
Having elated customers tell their success stories can also be a great proof strategy. However sometimes
unconvinced buyers just need to see if for themselves.

As long as they’re truthful, accurate, and without smoke-and-mirrors (ie trickery) - demonstrations are
the best way to bring your story to life. Buyers want to see what they’re going to buy in action before they
buy. Can your automobile really go 40 miles on a gallon of gas? Does your new fabric resist sun-rot and
staining as well as you claim? Helping buyers see, understand, and believe for themselves is much more
convincing than just telling your story.

When buyers see credible, live demonstrations of a real products they can buy today, it’s hard to doubt what
you’re telling them. Recorded demonstrations (like audio, video, or software replays) are also convincing.
As a seller you have to guarantee credibility, but if you want to repeat a performance 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week, 365 days a year - and deliver it without geographical restrictions - then recording and making it
available via the Internet is a very powerful and scalable sales tool.

Tell me more

Great stories move us, impressive demonstrations can be unforgettable, but engaging experiences
emotionally
touch a buyer. Help them smell, hear, taste, touch, or feel your product in action - and if it’s a
good GREAT experience - you’ll not only gain a buyer but you’ll create the best sales person you could
ever hope to recruit.

Experiences can be small or large, short or long. Experiences don’t need to be extravagant to have an
impact. Taste the food. Hear and feel the whump of the music. Smell the perfume. Small experiences can
have a tremendous impact on the buying decision. As a buyer would you buy a new car without a test drive?
Would you switch from a PC computer to a Macintosh without trying it first? Probably not.
